SPAIN - MOROCCO - THE SAHARA
Trip 1: 22rd MARCH — 3rd APRIL
Trip 2: 26th APRIL — 8th MAY
Ten days of magical contrast, as we travel through the high Moroccan Atlas, amid wild plains of spring flowers, snowy peaks & majestic cedar forests, onto witness one for the bucket list; sunrise over the great Sahara.
Discover this countries rich diversity, its Ancient medinas, the breathtaking rugged Atlas mountains, spectacular gorges & the legendary warmth of the Moroccan people.
A mix of wild camping & welcomed nights in authentic, charming hotels, along unbeaten roads & rocky djebel tracks; it remains one of our favourite tours.
This was the first big adventure that LMA undertook back in 2015, & it has become the bench mark for all other tours. It seems so extraordinary that one moment you are in Europe & the next, Africa.
The sights & sounds, the richness of Morocco, its culture, colour & welcome is completely compelling & utterly intoxicating.
As with all Legendary Adventures, ours is a slower paced, more connected journey. We aim to engage, not just to ourselves & our fellow travellers, but with the indigenous communities we travel through. We often find ourselves taking mint tea with the local Bedouin or helping a farmer load his hay-cart. It makes for a far fuller & richer day.
Is This for You:
This journey feels perhaps, a touch more heroic than our other trips. Something about crossing continents, from Europe to Africa, making it on to watch the sun’s rise over the Sahara, that guarantees a deep sense of accomplishment.
Morocco continues to blow us away, with its welcome & unending charm. The Moroccan culture is based on welcoming strangers with open arms; everywhere we go, we receive deep smiles & waves of kindness.
We have taken experienced riders, as well as new-to-biking clients on this tour, & so can recommend this trip to any level of rider. It promises to stretch all riders abilities, & this is a good thing. We come away feeling more adventurous & able.
Each day we are blown away by the contrast in landscape & topography. As the warm wind rushes past us & our steed, we absorb the full magnificence of colour & contour, from the comfort of your Royal Enfield’s seat.
We return home with a touching reminder of how extraordinary & life-affirming, this great & ancient thing called existence is.
The adventure begins with a couple of days in our Andalusian villa, in the high hills near the beautiful village of Gaucin.
Over the weekend we’ll ride out on light forays, into the Andalusian landscape, taking you through favoured landscapes & along majestic roads. It’s a time for gentle preparation & getting to know your Royal Enfield motorcycle. Along with exploring a handful of the regions great routes, we will open the group to some light off-road training, so you are acclimatised & ready for the ride over to Africa & the short ferry crossing to Morocco.
We’ll spend our first Moroccan night, in the utterly intoxicatingly & charming hill town of Chefchouen. The ‘Blue Pearl’ as it’s known, due to its buildings choice in cobalt blue’s & hues, is the perfect way to experience Moroccan life, without too much hassle & bustle.
Our routes vary, but typically we may take in a quick hit of Fez, or a gentle pottle through Midelt, before climbing onto Imilchil & a breath-taking ride through the epic Boulmane & Dades Gorges.
The landscape up here in the High Atlas changes daily, one moment we are experiencing near luna landscape & the next, green & lush fertile plains. It’s enough to blow of socks off.
As we descend out of the Atlas, onto the open plateaus of the low ranges, we notice a sense of anticipation & achievement building, as we push onto the great dunes of the Sahara. Suddenly there they are, the golden, sandy pyramids of the Erg Chebbi.
We like to spend a night or two here on the edge of the great dessert, in one of the charming, authentic hotels. It is a time to relax by the pool, eat, drink & bathe in a feeling of deep achievement & heroism!
On the second evening at the Erg, we may well choose to camp out & fine-dine in the dunes. There is something very wonderful about sleeping in the deep silence of the Sahara.
We encourage an early morning rise, to watch one of Life’s great spectacles, sunrise over the great dunes.
We ride home typically via the ancient Roman capital & magnificent ruins of Volublis, for one final night back in Chefchaoen. It is time for some market haggling & purchasing gifts for loved-ones, before heading back over & onto Spain.
The last evening is spent back in our Andalusian villa. Here we raise a glass to new friends & our new found freedoms & heroic accomplishments! Job done!

Is Morocco Safe?
Morocco remains ‘safe’. The King of Morocco to his credit, has ensured his lands remain safe and free from any terrorist threat. Tourism is essential to Morocco and so tourists are made to feel safe & very welcome. We have only ever experienced a warmness from the locals. Like all cultures that differ to ours, we travel with & bring our respect, to their ways and teachings.

"The five days we spent in Andalusia were full of adventures and ‘away from it all fun’. We laughed and laughed and laughed. Sam and Ed are two of the most lovely people to spend time with. Everything was organised and worked perfectly in a relaxed and flexible way which I loved. An exceptional few days, on magnificent bikes, with great people. The Best."
"Ed and Sam are outstanding hosts: full of knowledge and inspiring ideas, but also relaxed enough to let clients chart their own course."
"LMA really delivers. When you’re with them you leave everything behind and dive into slow travel on great bikes, campfires, music, reconnecting with yourself and opening up to the others. You get out what you put in, and it is up to you to make it happen!"
